What is AI metal?
Metal music composed, arranged and performed by generative models rather than recorded by human hands in a room, and the fast-growing scene built around it. This page is the plain-language definition: what it is, the spectrum it covers, where it lives, and why transparency matters.

The definition
AI metal is heavy music generated by machine-learning models, most often text-to-music platforms like Suno, Udio or Producer.ai, rather than written and recorded by a band. The term covers a broad spread of genres: deathcore, thall, djent, industrial metal, cyber-metal and symphonic deathcore all have AI-made representatives. On a first listen the result can be indistinguishable from human-played metal, which is exactly why the transparency question below matters.
A spectrum, not a binary
AI metal isn't one thing. At one end, fully generated tracks: the model produces the entire composition from a prompt. In the middle, AI-assisted work, where humans write, arrange or perform parts and use AI for the production.
